These things really do happen in today's world

So my brother-in-law writes me from China (where he is continuing to stay in the hotel I checked out of yesterday evening) and says, "So I got shot by an air rifle Saturday evening while I was sitting out front of the hotel watching the world go by.  I'm sure it was a group of teenagers "having fun", but I was dripping blood all over the place."

And typical of Chinese culture, "I also went into the hotel to report it, but they seemed more interested in getting the bleeding tourist out of the view of their patrons than trying to find the little bastards."  I totally see that.  Yep, make the problem stop bothering me.  Do not actually solve it. 

In front of the hotel!!!  And this is not a small hotel, either.  This is a really nice hotel.  A hotel with lots of international travelers.

I never thought of air rifles in China. I guess "toy" guns are legal... wow... how in the world does that happen on a major city street? Not just a nice hotel, a decent city. This isn't Shenzhen or some rural providence. This is the Chicago of China (at least that's how I think of it). But I guess a lot of bizarre things happen in Chicago, too.
