New experiences
Mar. 23rd, 2010 08:09 pmThis past weekend was... interesting. And almost all good-interesting.
Braiding
Some time ago as a birthday gift I promised a friend that I would teach her how to french braid her hair. I know how, it is easy, I thought I could teach it.
However... I am self-taught. I have never seen anyone teach how to french braid hair.
Have you ever taught someone to tie their shoe laces? Remember how hard it was to break down the actions of each of your fingers, because your fingers just do it without you thinking about it? And when you try to think about it, to explain it, the whole process becomes... harder?
French-braiding is like that. *sigh* She took lots of pictures and did two braids that were WAY better than my first 50.
Ren Faire
There are two large RenFaires in Texas. Sadly, both are many hours drive away. But this year there is a small local one. And... it wasn't bad!
Cold Temperatures
(really? Here? In March?!)
We had a cold snap over the weekend. It ended up that we had to dress for cold weather in going to the Ren Faire. Considering our usual attire is as thin and cool as possible, this was quite a contrast!
And I got to wear my green Irish cloak for the very first time. I saw many people in cloaks there. Most of them hung open, mine hung closed. Win! And mine, in its hanging-closed position, has arm slits at the perfect height for me to reach through. Win! And it is still beautiful and warm and green.
