In our Valentine's weekend quest for the perfect custard/creme brule/pudding, we stopped off at a store... T was searching for replacement for his Saucony sneakers.  He chose...theseBrown vibram toe shoes

It is entertaining to watch people notice him wearing them.

I only saw the soles while he was sitting down, but I did absently notice that they had toes, and wonder about it.

As for perfect pudding - have you tried the "Pot de Creme" at the Central Market? If they don't have it at the cafe, they do have it in the dessert case in the store. A lovely rich chocolate pudding/mousse thing.

The chocolate "pot de creme" was one of the ones I got. Along with the scharffen burger pudding (less impressive) and a coffee flan. Actually the flan was the best tasting of those three, though the pot was petty good.

I am way tempted to buy a pair, probably the "sprints" (mary jane style). I know barefoot is good for one's balance and strength, yet I also fear the world's ickiness...this seems like a mighty compromise.

Follow-up, since my husband just bought those exact ones... had to wait till REI had some in stock... I've been wearing mine (the sprints) sporadically since spring, and they've helped my knees.

You are not the first person who has mentioned the knee improvement. I know during that brief period of insanity in which I took up jogging as an exercise sport, my knees were the problem that ground it to a halt.

My husband was thinking of doing a triathlon. He swims far more every morning than would be required, and figured the biking part would be easy. The running part was the only sticking point for him. So he started jogging in his treks at the gym. He was working up to 3/4 of a mile when he dislocated something in his calf. Not painful, but that disconcerting POP and then felt like the muscles no longer moved correctly. He gave the jogging up. Doctor said the calf would fix itself with time, but T is now of the opinion that jogging in these is something that should be worked up to very slowly.

He says they are comfy, but that you should judge for yourself. He describes it as very much like wearing isotoner gloves on your feet. They are at Whole Earth and REI. I tried some on and decided that while they are like being barefoot, I like my arch support just a little too much to give it up.
