My morning started with a phone call from a vendor I thought would be an in-home hospice caregiver, and turned out to be an in-home assisted living caregiver.  Not a bad thing to know.  I switched that name from Mom's list to Dad's list.  This could be useful information later on, especially if there is a lag between Mom's death and when we move Dad into someplace new.

We gave brother-in-law D a lift back to the airport this afternoon.  His weekend trying to get a handle on the family paperwork was extremely productive, he says.  He now knows that there is a LOT he does not know.  And that he is VERY happy to start doing this now, when they are still around to answer his questions.

D updated us on how Mom's visit to the doctor went this morning.  Evidently the doctors did not take the moving-into-the-bone as a drastically bad turn.  Considering her other numbers (blood oxygen level, specifically), they gave her a year to live and said she could switch to using the oxygen when she feels like it.  They recommended any activity that might make her pant would be a good idea to use oxygen, but she probably won't need it when she is just sitting.  Yay!  All good!  Now, we don't know when the year-to-live starts, but even worst case that gives her until about August.

So now we are planning Mom's 70th birthday party and a proposed visit from her sister and a niece (which, if you are following the relationships and give a flying patootie, would be T's aunt and 1st cousin).  I have scheduled another living facility tour for next weekend.  I hope to have a comparison list of Dad's proposed living facilities for D to review fully by next week.

I am glad for Mom to hear that the doctors have found cause to give her a longer prognosis. I pray that it is a comfort for you all and for her.
