Camelot lost
Dec. 24th, 2009 05:59 pmYou know the story...
T wanted to ride in my uncle's helicopter, but had to be below 200lb. So in Feb he started losing weight for our May visit to my uncle's place in Florida. But in May the wind was too high for flying.
So T continued to lose weight and we scheduled another visit for Thanksgiving. And to our delight, T got TWO rides on Thanksgiving day. We were thrilled. It made T's year. We left Florida on Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Yesterday we got a box and the Rest Of The Story.
Evidently after we left on Saturday the 28th, my uncle went out for another ride. The helicopter did not come back. My uncle has a broken arm. He sent T the passenger helmet T wore on Thanksgiving, with headphones. It was dry. He also sent the R22 manual, very damp and smelling of seawater.
I spent two hours carefully separating each page of the manual and putting in paper towels. It was drying nicely this morning.
Of course, this means that there is no future chance for helicopter rides for T.
