And everyone lived.
Jun. 15th, 2009 11:17 amWell, everyone who was alive to begin with.
This past weekend was Family Reunion time. It was my mother's father's family. Four hours with my uncle's wife last month led me to be relationship-prepared. I did not have to ask, "You look familiar. Who are you and how am I related to you?" That was a pleasant change.
Not the best organized reunion. There was no plan. I figured out far too late that there was a central location... in everyone's mind but ours. Communication was spotty. T and I made it to one lunch, missed another simply because no one communicated to us when and where. Our impression was that it was a 3 day reunion. We arrived on Thursday, had dinner with family. We were planning on leaving after lunch on Saturday... Which we found out was not The Plan when Saturday dinner was mentioned in a letter two weeks ago. Um... Ok. We can be flexible. But we still had to drive home after dinner. And it was not a short or easy drive. *sigh* We were both a bit surprised when dinner started at about 8:30pm. *sigh*
In spite of that... It was really nice to see some very nice people. I hung with a 9-year-old (2nd cousin once removed, not that he asked), which totally blew away T. T had no idea that after age 8, I get along well with most children (well, one-on-one). I brought games, T brought toys... It was all good.

You and me both. I'm not a little-kid person, usually, though I can fake it when necessary.
