It started out like most airports, searching for my airline check in. But things went downhill from there. I think it was the culture thing. I got in a short line, and a guy stepped around me to stand next to the guy in front of me. He got served, I'm still waiting. OK, so maybe my patience went with dinner last night. Then it turns out that guy-in-front is not actually in line! *grind teeth* I maneuvered my 3 rolling items around him and tried to block the front of the line. There was an empty counter, but she made no sign to me. So I asked her if she was available. Yes. Nice. *sarcasm* Could you give me a sign?

Maneuver to counter, hand over ticket & ID... I put my to-be-checked on the conveyer only to stand up and discover that a guy waiving papers has shoved between me and my carry-ons and is now giving every sign of trying to convince my counter agent to deal with HIM. *grind teeth* Not being able to touch my carry-ons bothered me a LOT and I said "excuse me!" loudly to him about 3 times and pointed at my bags. He totally igmored me. The counter agent convinced him to wait in line. He stepped back, but was still standing way too close for my comfort. *grimace*

The full-body security scan and opening of my luggage to sniff my water bottles was practically tame by comparison.

How does body distance differ? What is a socially acceptable way of telling people to back the f*** off? I don't want to be arrested.
