New TV shows I have started watching

indigo_rose99My taste is not for everyone. Otherwise, Firefly would never have been canceled. There have been some new shows that I have been watching that vary wildly in quality.
Sanctuary
Disappointing. Hokey. Reminds me a lot of Special Unit 2. Amanda Tapping is the only thing that keeps me watching at all.
Leverage
Surprisingly entertaining. I watched a 4 episode marathon and found myself really enjoying it. Yes, it is a bit like Ocean's Eleven. I guess the key for me is that several of the characters stand out as entertaining.
Legend of the Seeker
Perhaps I would find this more entertaining if I had read the books. It reminds me of two many other similar storylines, without anything to really distinguish it positively. I found it... boring.
Life on Mars
I like crime stories. But I have found myself storing more of these on the DVR than I watch. Perhaps I haven't given this one enough of a chance.
Eleventh Hour
Fun. FBI science mysteries.
The Mentalist
I sense that there is somebody's ego involved in this. But another FBI mystery with a different angle. I like some of the relationships between the team. At times I think they take themselves a bit too seriously.
Fringe
More FBI mysteries, but with a larger X-files-style arc. I like some of the relationships.
My Own Worst Enemy
Cool idea, but I do not like any of the characters. Tough to regret the cancellation.
The Cleaner
Sometimes I think it is a well done 'against drugs.' Some of the episodes seem well written, but I dislike all of the characters. I am no longer going to record this one.

Except for the "Special Unit 2" part of the comment (which I've never watched), I agree. I've been watching this all season, wanting it to be good since I'm an Amanda Tapping fan from her Stargate days ... and it's just not. I will probably remove this one from the TiVo list soon.
Leverage
We were just talking about this one over dinner with a couple friends on Thursday night. Sounds like something I might enjoy, and they mentioned that the episodes are available online. I might go check it out.
The Mentalist
Watched one episode. Seems to be a grown-up version of Psych with much more depth and drama. I found it pretty annoying and haven't watched any more.
Fringe
Watched the pilot episode. Looked interesting. Decided that I didn't have the time to add another new show to my recording lineup. Might reconsider now that I'm probably going to drop Sanctuary.
