Breakfast

I dislike eating breakfast in hotels.  Often they are run by people who think that how the room works is Completely Obvious.  Of course it is not.  Can I just walk in and sit down?  Do I have to wait for someone to seat me?  Is this a menu situation or should I wander until I find a buffet?

And then there are the other patrons.  I have been seated by a hotel person and told to go to the buffet for my food.  I came back from the buffet to find my table occupied by other people.  And since the room was full of people, there I stood with my hands full of food and nowhere to put it.  Several other times I have been eating and ignoring the rest of the patrons by reading when someone said, "Excuse me, may I sit with you?  All of the other tables seem to be full."  Ugh.   Of course the polite thing to do is let them sit down.  But then what?  Do I talk to them?  Can I ignore this stranger completely?  Some fuzzy line between talking and ignoring?  Ack!

Today was the first time I went down to breakfast after almost a week in this hotel.  It looked like a typical breakfast buffet... but there were almost no people.  Sweet!

I gotta take my victories where I find them.
