Change is... different
Nov. 10th, 2008 12:56 pmI have spent a lot of time in Ireland. A LOT. And when I am in Limerick, I generally stay at the same hotel. But when I booked this trip, it was full. So, new hotel.
And new is both good and bad.
Good: I have a BEAUTIFUL suite. Sweet suite. Four rooms, including the room that does nothing but have doorways into other rooms.
Bad: The internet connection in my room does not work. Does not even pretend to work. I think it is a wall hardware thing.
Good: The hotel lobby has wireless.
Bad: I managed to connect to the wireless in the lobby, but as I type it their connection to the internet is down. Hrm. This could be a LONG week away from internet...
Good: My room has a tiny kitchen. Microwave, frig, silverware, plates, bowls... I can actually eat here!
Bad: It is a much longer commute in the morning. Even if I wanted to eat the hotel breakfast, I leave long before it starts.
Good: The gym is open 24 hours! Yes! I can actually do my morning working in a gym!
Bad: When I asked for directions to walk to Tesco, they directed me to a a bigger grocery store in a few minutes driving distance. Which was fine, but I am a bit worried about the implied no walking into town. Clearly this is something I will have to actually test during the next week and a half.
Good: Free parking in easy-to-park spaces. This saves me 50 Euro and a considerable amount of stress.
Bad: No AC in the room. You'd think that with it being sorta winter here, this wouldn't be a problem. But I have 5 windows open in my room and it is still a bit on the warm side. I don't think I can actually turn down the heat.
Good: The view out my six windows is good. Well, six windows and a BALCONY. My own very private balcony. And the view out one window is this truly spectacular tree in shades from yellow through orange into red. It fills my window. Wow.
