President for Texas?
Oct. 3rd, 2008 07:54 pmI lived in this same house, with the same phone number during the 2000 and the 2004 elections. There is very little presidential campaigning here. Most signs are for local elections. We see the big campaign "battlegrounds" on TV, somewhere else.
So I have been a bit surprised this year when I have gotten no less than 4 different phone polls in the past few weeks asking me who I will vote for in the presidential election. And these are the ones that actually caught me at home! Who knows how many phone calls there were when we were absent! This sort of phone pestering never happened in previous elections.
Is there some doubt as to how Texas will vote?

That is odd

Re: That is odd
Date: 2008-10-05 12:34 pm (UTC)One of them was via human (instead of automated machine). That one gave me a speech about the different views and history of each candidate, and then asked if my vote had changed. I pointed out that, except for the presidential candidate, I had previously voted for the Libertarian party and that the views & history had only been on the other two candidates. Why should my vote change? He admitted ruefully that it was a bit biased and took my "no change" answer.
I pay a game with myself, trying to figure out which party the pollster WANTS me to vote for. Tough to tell. If I can easily tell, that would instantly make it an invalid poll in my mind.
no subject

Very interesting election, this.
