Pacific Coast Highway

indigo_rose99My knowledge of West Coast geography is weak. However, one of my favorite TV shows, the Closer, is based in LA. They had a pretty memorable episode about the Pacific Coast Highway killer. So imagine my surprise in finding myself actually driving down the PCH?!
One of my customer contacts was concerned about me making it to LAX in time for my 8:30pm flight. She said that traffic was bad at 5pm, and suggested I take the coastal route. I was dubious, since my GPS seemed convinced that the big highways were the fastest route and I can never remember how to convince it to take an alternate route. But my customer said, "There will be very little traffic on the PCH until right before you get to the airport." ... SOLD! And she was totally right.
It was beautiful.... I think driving around the edge of Oahu beat it for sheer cliff/wafer beauty, but since I am in CA and not Hawaii... I very much recommend it if you have a chance. This was my Fun Thing on this trip.
