I'm watching the pilot of a new TV show: Fringe.  I am amazed by the range of expressions of the main character, played by Anna Torv.  In the first scene and then later when playing opposite her (in the show) lover, she smiled and looked about 18.  I wondered what on earth they could be doing having such an empty-headed young actress playing such a critical role.  And then.... And then the scene changed and she aged to her mid-thirties with a clear level of stubborn professionalism that made her perfectly believable for her role.  It was tough to believe they were even using the same actress.

Wow.  35 to 18 in seconds.  With a smile.

She's 30. I wonder if I could look 18 if I smiled. Oh well, not worth it to find out.
