Messina, Sicily, Italy
Sep. 5th, 2008 02:00 pmSilly me, I thought Sicily was the city. Nope. Island. Messina is the city. Have I mentioned how horrendously badly Texas schools teach geography? I have been learning world geography pretty much as I go.
We took a tour to Taormina (yet another town I had never heard of, though the tour guide pointed out that my lack of Godfather knowledge is showing). Who knew that Sicily was such a vertical place?! Lots of ups and downs. The views are spectacular, but.... Let me remind you that we are in a full-size bus and the hairpin turns on the tiny roads were really not built for vehicles of this size. We sit in the back and I concentrate on Not Thinking About Bus Crashes.
It is hard work.
