larger adventures
Jul. 14th, 2006 07:33 pmMy students took me to a traditional restaurant and fed me (among other things) pig stomach. I tried to smile as I ate it, because they were all watching. It was a little chewy.
It turns out that I am on an island. I had no idea! Perhaps I should look at a map before going on these trips...
I went to the shore and took a ferry to a smaller island. Free to get on the ferry, but you have to pay to return. Very slick.
The small island has a colorful history, but no cars. They are illegal. Can you imagine? The island is not THAT small!
The typhoon is coming, so everyone is worried about when it will hit and how bad it will be. I am on a plane tomorrow, and worry that they will cancel my flight.
In the meantime, the rain is already here. Thus explaining part of my adventure.
I took a local bus. He closed the door and snapped off my umbrella. Rain. Pay unknown fare. Retrieve umbrella pieces. Impatient locals. Bus is moving. Ack!
