Learning things: hair retrieval
Aug. 13th, 2008 05:53 pmYesterday I went mall walking with
livingdeb and
cartaufalous. Cartaufalous was successful in shorts-shopping. But the interesting part was not the creative colors or even the cargo pockets, but rather the check-out lady.
She was entertaining, with lovely hair, and she had a recipe for getting back your hair. She looked old enough that this would be a concern for her husband, if not for her.
She said she and her husband (who died with a full head of hair!) learned some extra tips the hard way:
She was entertaining, with lovely hair, and she had a recipe for getting back your hair. She looked old enough that this would be a concern for her husband, if not for her.
1 pint of (really cheap) vodka
3 oz red pepper (dried flakes are fine)
Combine, put in a cabinet for 5-7 days. Remove from cabinet, strain out red pepper. Dab on bald spots before going to sleep.
She said she and her husband (who died with a full head of hair!) learned some extra tips the hard way:
- Do not rub your eyes, nose, mouth or .... anything else sensitive after putting this on the balding spots. No matter how much you washed your hands.
- Do not take a shower before dabbing it on. Or if you do, make it a COLD shower. No opening of the pores.
- When you wash it off your head the next morning, be sure to lean your head BACK when rinsing it off your scalp. Rinsing it into your eyes is evidently a baaaaaaad idea.
- If you start doing this, you do not have to do it every day for the rest of your life. Just do it until you are happy with your hair, then stop. When you notice it thinning again, make up another recipe.

This will double as a face lift. (Once your hair has thinned enough, this won't give you a headache.) Then twist your hair, form it into figure eights up and down the back of your head, tuck the end in the bottom, and now you're ready for a big clip or some hair sticks. Shallow--rather than deep, bulky--hair clips will allow you to drive more comfortably.
And when those wiry grey hairs come in that get caught in everything, you simply can't have those little nose pads on your glasses if you are going to be storing them on top of your head. Get the plastic glasses that don't need those little pad things stuck to them. She demonstrated how painless it can be to put glasses on your head and then put them in front of your eyes again.
