Texas Rain

Rain does not fall peacefully in Texas.  It storms, thunders, streaks the sky with lightening, and falls so thickly that we finally understand why they put those little mounds between the traffic lanes instead of just drawing a line.  How else are we to know if we are straying from our lane?  There is no hope of seeing the ground in this rain.

The nice part of it is that such rain rarely lasts more than a few minutes.  But it almost always comes back.  Run through the wet to the car before the real rain returns.  Driving is always the risk..

Today I took the tollroad home from lunch to avoid other cars and minimize my time on the road. Good plan.  To my amusement, roads  a mile from my house were dry, with blue sky and the sun shinning.

It is a crazy weather world here.

It sure doesn't rain like that here. We had a 60% chance of rain two days ago and it never even sprinkled, I could have ridden my bike to work. Yesterday was a 40% chance of thunderstorms and it rained or drizzled all day. The ground never really got dry between the showers. I saw lightning in the far distance but never heard any thunder. I can remember it raining so hard in Texas that I had to open the door to find the line on the pavement. I couldn't see far enough to even pull over without someone on that side of the car to tell me where the ditch was. A far cry from here.
