What should we see or do?
May. 5th, 2008 04:18 pm2008 is the year that T finally gets another week of vacation. We have been planning on going to the Mediterranean on a cruise for years. We have chosen our cruise. However, we have never been to any of these cities. We are ready to start thinking about what to do on each of these cruise stops.
So, what should we do in each of these cities? What do you recommend?
Barcelona
Monte Carlo
Livorno
Naples
Valletta
Aghios Nikolaos
Izmir
Athens
Messina
Civitavecchia
Pick a city, give "must see" suggestions!

Date: 2008-05-06 12:32 am (UTC)* Sagrada Familia (and all the other Gaudí stuff)
* The cathedral, especially on Sunday morning when all the groups come out and dance the Sardana out front.
* If you go during the summer, every Saturday night they have a laser/music/water light show at the base of Montjuïc that is well worth seeing.
* Olympic Village
* Poble de Espanya (a "village" that has elements of all the regions of Spain)
* Cristopher Columbus (they used to have a replica of the Santa María there, but I don't think it's still there)
* Las Ramblas (but keep ahold of your wallet!)
* Just about everywhere downtown that's really old. Very cool old buildings and wandering streets.
I can probably come up with more if you want. :-)

Date: 2008-05-06 01:25 pm (UTC)what to see there depends on what you like. if you're into architecture, you can spend a half-day just walking around. they have an incredible archaeological museum and an amazing art museum in a palazzo. also, you can explore the caves and tunnels under the city!
when you get hungry, have a pizza margherita and limoncello, both of which are native to that area...
