Today we are wiping and reinstalling the OS on my new laptop for the *sigh* third time. In the many hours it takes, we have watched 1.5 seasons of The Tick (animated). It is even funnier then I remembered. The very sad part is that we have discovered that they casually left out episodes to both seasons 1 and 2, one of which was both very funny and necessary to continuity. Evil people!

[livejournal.com profile] achaosofkittens video-tapped the broadcasts, so we have the episodes in a very different order than the DVDs do. They are fun nonetheless.

Dum DEEE duh dum dum...

The internet is a lovely thing. Really the only continuity that I remember in the Tick was Chairface's name in the moon, and then Omnipotus' subsequent bite out of the moon. So I guess it isn't worth going to the internet and downloading the episode order...

Still bitter about these not being complete seasons. And it missing the Omnipotus episode! *grrr*

I wanted to get XP when we ordered the laptops. It was on the list of choices. However, experts said that XP was not designed for tablets and that copy of XP was only for business customers where every other computer in the company used XP. He said it would not work as well on a tablet. He said for tablet optimal functionality (I got the impression "decent" functionality), we would have to suck it up and go with Vista. Vista evidently does ground-up tablet.

Add to this that T has an identical tablet, with the same software installed and he has no problems. This reinstall, for instance, T installed ONLY software he has and STILL mine has problems. I could pretty much hear him grinding his teeth from across the room. He even switched out the hardware (switched motherboards) and the problem follows my motherboard. Twice.

J has only seen one episode of the Tick. I have seen a few of them. It has the famous quote "Read a book". Tee hee hee. I really loved that series. I have even seen someone do the catch phrase "SPOOOOOOON".

I do think the tick has some of the best lines, ever. I loved the whole "Read a book" puppet, but also left room for

"Gravity is a harsh mistress."

"And isn't sanity just a one trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick: rational thinking. But when you are good and crazy, woo hoo! The sky's the limit!"

I'm doing laundry!!! :-)

I love the Tick. One of my absolute faves. I'd love to get every single animated episode on DVD. The live action one just kinda sucked.

I don't think the third season is out yet. At least, I haven't seen it on shelves.

But the first season missed one of the more boring episodes, but the second season is missing "Alone Together." It is the 2nd episode of Season 2, and was the one in which Omnipotus (the Galactus look-alike) takes a bite out of the moon. We were pretty pissed when we started noting bites out of the moon in season 2 without having watched that episode. *grrrr* Rumor on the internet has it that it was left out for legal reasons, but no explanation was given.

I notice now that neither DVD box says "The Complete Season" on it. *general glare at the evil people*

Liz in Denton here... just thinking that perhaps the Omnipotus episode was held back because Marvel comics may have gotten a bit pissy over the whole "Galactus" spoof and claimed it was copyright violation or some such. Feh.

I'm glad we still have many episodes on VHS, but sooner or later those tapes are going to deteriorate *sniffle*. Must convert to DVD!

Yes, you must convert! And then you must give us a copy! *hopeful look*

I promise, you'll be the first to get one! Also, which episode was missing from the other season? You know, the "boring" one? If we have it (and if you want it), we'll include it as well.
