Palm stuff
Apr. 13th, 2008 07:58 pmWith my new Vista laptop, I first installed Palm Desktop 6.2.2. I do not use Outlook, and the Palm website claimed this is the best (only?) Desktop to use with Vista. It was terrible. Darn thing took 3 tries to install, running incorrectly in a variety of strange ways: calendar entries disappearing, memos disappearing, the Desktop crashing and deleting newly typed-in entries... The teeth grinding seemed without end. Plus the color coding in previous versions was missing and an open-for-editing memo (scrolled down so I could read some content and type it in another window) would auto-scroll back to the top. It was easier to simply type even the text-heavy information in my Treo.
After considerable reading of other websites, I decided to take the risk of going back to the previous, much more stable and friendlier version 4.1.4. Was it only stable because I was using Windows XP?
The installation went fine, with importing of data going smoothly. Several days later, I have had no problems (a contrast all on its own).
