indigo_rose99In Chicago O'Hare, international terminal 5 there is a series of photographs. If you have the time, they are worth the walk of the terminal.
Each large picture is of a family from a different country. Supposedly, they are average families in ~1993. Certainly the US family from Texas looked pretty average. It is the family and Their Stuff. Beds, couches, cars, pets, STUFF. Outside. In one, it was snowing on their couches. One family was in a boat, their stuff on the shore. One family with stuff was on a platform hanging in mid-air. One family had the longest couch (taken up from their basement, the explanation said) I have seen in my life. That was an aerial photo.
Some photos reminded me that we are the same, the world over. Other photos reminded me that we are Totally Different and that humans are completely flexible to what is "ordinary."
There are some side collages. Sleeping. Washing. School.
