Clothing malfunction.

Just the phrase makes me tense up enough to have a headache bloom at the base of my neck.

I think I'm prepared.  I only wear new undergarments to teach.  I always carry a sewing kit.  I choose clothing for its ability to handle me being cold or hot without embarrassing me.  And still I can be caught off guard.

A few months ago I realized while talking to a student that wearing the more form-fitting button down shirts comes with some inherent dangers.  I handled this by buying a really attractive almost-skin-colored lace and silk camisole to wear under mine.  The straps have a tendency to slide, but otherwise it worked out well.  Until today.  Today, I heard/felt that disconcerting popping noise when I lifted my arm about an hour into class.  *sigh*  About a half hour later I realized I needed to casually tuck the dangling strap into the back of my pants.  Yep.  Act casual.  No one is looking.  Really.

I left lunch early to sew it back on.  A lack of safety pins (thankyou TSA!) had me tying it to my bra strap with thread to keep the same thing from happening again.  And of course I had to cut the thread with my teeth.
